Happened to me all the time when I had the sedan...but it would be with EVOs and Mustangs that wanted to race.

Yeah, the 500 Abarth are quick (unreliable too).

well there must be some reason so many people are running out and buying them over other cars.

Style over substance. Age-old story, and the social-media generation has pushed it to dangerous/sick extremes.

Reliable or not, I'd buy an Abarth in a heartbeat.

For the small car driving enthusiast, this is hard to argue.

Fiat 500 Abarth aren't that fast. My neighbour and I completely crushed three of them at Toronto Motorposrts Park Cayuga. The car was his Toyota 86 with a stock engine...

Fiats get a lot of bad reviews. I'll take reliability over a bit more speed and panache.
Only other small car I would maybe take rather than a Yaris would be a Fit. If price and mileage were equal. Toyotas rule on reliability.

They may not be the fastest, but they're a ton of fun to drive. And that sound!

I think the Abarth sounds terrible! Drove one for a couple of days. It was a fun, very nimble, little car... that I quickly tired of. I was so happy to get back in my "boring" Toyota.

I've had people try to race me in my 3-cylinder Geo metro. Of course, I don't race back (I can't!!). Just goes to show: some people will race against anything.
