change/remoe bulb in dashboard

We have run into a problem: We want to remove the light bulb for the indicator light for "engine failure". Is that possible?

We need the indicator to stop being lid and our mechanic tells us that there is nothing wrong with the car, so he can't make it stop!? I hope someone can help!

The car is from 2004.

Have you plugged a diagnostic scanner into the car to see what the code is that is making the check engine light be on. They don't turn on for no reason.

No. We believe him...But say a light bulb has stopped working. Is it something you can change yourself? Or do you need a Toyota-dealer?

The European ones have a bulb for the digital cluster and an LED for the analog cluster. The easiest way to disable the light either way is to snip the red wire with the yellow stripe on the instrument cluster connector.

The ECM has to ground that wire to make the light come on, so unless that ECM output has failed with a short to ground, the ECM is lighting it for a reason.
