Tranny Fluid

Just curious for any of you with manual trannys, what kind of tranny fluid you are using? I'm at 90,000KM and overdue for my first transmission fluid change. Been reading that Red Line and Amsoil are both good choices if wanting to switch over to synthetic. I guess the Yaris only requires 2 Litres so it wouldn't be expensive at all.

MT 90. I hate to say it but Canadian Tire can get it. May take a day or two.

Sweet.. I'll check Crappy Tire because JRP and Performance Improvements are both a good 1hr+ commute each way.

Thanks!!

This, because it's GL-4 spec'd, which is what my Echo's tranny needs.

GL-5 will not be friendly to your tranny if you need GL-4, check your manual.

tranny fluid change is every 60,000km, not miles...

I used Amsoil, got it at Autopro. Only changed it once at 200,000 kms was really pleased with it, made a noticeable difference. (that was in the echo)

I should clarify; any fluid that is both GL-4 and GL-5 compatible isn't the best choice, get something that is ONLY GL-4 compatible (if that's what the Yaris tranny needs).

The fluids that are GL-4/GL-5 compatible don't do as good a job as ones that are strictly GL-4 compatible.
