Yaris design oversight...

I have had my 07 yaris sedan for about a month now and use the a/c everyday. I was looking at how clean the engine compartment was one day and noticed something that worried me. The a/c condensation drain pipe drips right onto a bolt and washer for the suspension/steering. I have only had it a month and already the washer was rusted badly! I had to change this immediately. I just took a piece of rubber hose and extended the drip away from everything to prevent the bolt (and who knows what else) from rusting....I feel much better about it and just wanted to pass this on to as many as I could. Thanks, abattle

Nice find. Could you tell us exactly where to find this drain pipe in engine compartment?

Thanks.

Any idea about whether the same happens to the HB?
I think Toyota should do a recall to fix the cars affected.

Thank you! You have just saved me some time which should have been used for checking out my own HB. Still feel sorry for the sedans.

I was about to say cause I'm about to breech 5000miles and that means my suspension components are about ready to go if they are rusting like that. And make sure you get a replacement galvanized bolt. my a/c doesn't get that cold. do you think its possible that because it was a showroom vehicle it wasnt properly charged with r134a

Will the dealership prevent the mentioned problem by doing the hose extension free of charge? Or will they tell you that it's "ok", and will fix it when it actually rust out like the original poster's sedan?

I doubt they will fix it for free(but I didnt ask)...Mine is located on the passanger side just behind the engine, way down at the bottom. I just slid a piece of hose aprox.5 inches long OVER the small hose. I think the inner diameter of the hose I put on was 1/2 inch(it fit snugly but I put silicone glue on it anyway, making sure NOT to obstruct the water flow)I will try to get a pic but not sure when I can get it in here, sorry...

On my sedan, I looked and saw the water hitting the ground but could not see location of pipe. But the "nuts and bolts" still look good to me.

Pics would be nice.
