seatbelt rip

so, i noticed a rip in my seatbelt where it runs through the actual clip piece when buckled in over me (say what). so i guess i need to find a new seat belt. but what would keep it from doing this again?

The fact that it ripped is a fluke I would say. You can't cut it if you tried

That may be covered by Toyota, I think seatbelts have a lifetime warranty.

+.5 - I say .5 because you can cut them with a blade however these must have been defective seeing as how normally you could not without a pretty sharp object.

+1

I had an issue with one of my belts on my 96 Tercel back before I sold it in 08. I took it to the local stealership and they did a replacement free of charge.

The problem is that the seatbelt is part of the SRS system and it actually has a little explosive device that locks it against you when the airbag pops. That's why they are so expensive.
