Magnetic Drain Plug Source?

I purchased one off FleaBay and the quality of the work was crap! So, I am either going to make my own, or find a quality unit from another source. Does anyone know what size/thread pitch the factory plug is? I have not put enough miles on mine yet to warrant changing oil and checking myself.

On an earlier post someone mentioned putting a couple magnets on the oil filter.....hard drive magnets work good and shouldn't fall off.

That would work, but I would need to cut the filter open if I wanted to look for material on the magnets. There is a site that offers magnets and I just need to know the correct size

i was changing toothbrush head on my philips sonicare last night and the old one was still in a waste basket in bathroom; it has two cute neodymium magnets ( when they stick together you need to use a knife and a hammer to separate them ....); i pulled the magnets and attached them to the bottom of the oil filter in my new yaris----- let's see how it works : if the filter gets only lukewarm when the engine runs at the operating temp, it will mean that MAGNETS WORK and i will need to do an early oil/filter change ...lol
p.s. due to the fact that the first engine oil is the one that takes all the break-in shavings from cylinder walls linings ( steel ?) and rings ( steel or molybdenum - not sure) a lot of crap will be circulating through the filter....

I am going to get a few myself. With a couple on the filter and my magnetic drain plug I should catch a lot of crap floating by.
