2010 lip spoiler

I was perusing the 2012 forum and came accross this pic in the 2012 spy photos thread. How and where can I get that small black lip spoiler/air dam that is shown on the 2010 car in front?

You can make something very similar with garage door gasket from Home Depot. Will cost you about $15.

Search Home Depot on this site and you will find a couple of threads.

I thought they all came with that on there.

I did a search as you suggested but the Home Depot spoilers aren't deep enough for me. So, my plan "A" is to start with this factory (?) piece (assuming it doesn't cost an arm and a leg) and then bolt on a rubber strip so it is about 3" below the bumper cover. If this fails, I can go to plan "B", aka Home Depot...

Since, according to some people in the 2012 Forum, this photo was taken in Europe, is this a Europe-only or non-USDM part?

I have one on my car. You can see it in this pic. It came on the car, but it doesn't serve much of a purpose except to scrub when I go out of my driveway.

Yeah, that is yet again another difference between sedan and LB. Sedans have always seemed to be equipped with that thing.

OP might be able to source one from a sedan, whether it be dealer or junker.

Do sedans and HB have the same shaped nose? I haven't looked too closely but it seems like in the pictures I have seen, the sedan nose is pointier or more rounded...

Not the same, but if the piece is flexible....well, who knows....

Did a little more research; according to the factory service manual, the small factory air dam is standard only on the sedans and not available on the hatchbacks. Now need to see if there's any chance the sedan piece will fit HB...

Certain things like that are weird about Toyota. I have a sedan and always wonder why the sedan dont have the "on dash" storage, like the one right in front of the driver on a LB/HB. Sedans dont get it, WTF!!!

I fabbed one up from the Home Depot garage door opener stuff, and then had to have my front bumper replaced. The body shop ordered one from a sedan and put it on. I don't have any pix that show in detail pre/post lips, but I am off work tomorrow and will snap some better ones then. They got it to fit pretty neatly, and the rubber is a lot more stiff than the HD fabbed lip I had on there.

Many are right though. All it does is serve as something to scrape the ground.

Hi,

I'm a newbie here, happened to come across this thread and don't know if I can help, but :)

That lip looks like the lip spoilers that come with the "Intelligent Package" Vitz (5-dr HB).

Similar non-OEM ones are available too, like:

Nice find, ppl said it doesn't serve a purpose but it does, meaning it won't scrape the bumper from the bottom, HD will expect a visit from me, since now I have a new kit and it would protect it from debre etc

Any pics yet?

Purple Vitz - Thanks for the info but I dunno how I would get something from Japan. However, at least now I know the parts are out there...

Those OEM lips are quite inexpensive, but guess shipping costs wouldn't be worth it

This is the Home Depot lip I fabbed up from the garage door seal:

This is what the body shop replaced it with from the Yaris Sedan (thinking that my crappy first effort was a factory deal):

The HD lip hung a little lower but was much more flexible and didn't hold shape very well. You can tell the difference between the two, even though the factory lip is not very detailed in the bottom picture. I don't have any great shots up close of it on this computer. The factory lip is more recessed under the bumper and doesn't hang as low, but it's much stiffer, so if you scrape it, you know it. But it does it's job very well, as the bottom of this second bumper has no knicks on it yet, whereas the bottom of my first bumper was all torched from curbs and knicks.

Hope this helps.
