1.5T swap
I am thinking to throw a boosted 1NZ-FE in my 2005 yaris.
But i've heard the turbo is a dealership option. Since i drive the 1st generation facelift, does the engine has the same hingepoints as before the facelift? Thanks! |

This should get moved to the Forced Induction forum.
You have a 1.5 now, so it's a swap for a 1.5T? Should be the same mounts, etc.

You'd have to compare part numbers to see if the motor mounts (2) and the trans mount are the same.
Further, the ECU is probably different, so you'd have to source an ECU to go with the 1.5L motor or manage the new motor with aftermarket + tuning. Just my guesses, as I've never seen a 1.3 in person.

i think it would cost you less to just throw an aftermarket turbo on your 1.3. And no, the 1st gen has some differences, the second gen has electronic throttle and a different final gear and a different fifth gear, and a few other changes. I don't know if the dimensions or mountings are different.
Of course, if you just switch everything all at once from a wrecked one that still has everything working and keep it stock it could be cheaper.

@why?: I've been thinking about boosting the 1.3 i have now. But i don't want a turbo just for the BOV, i really want some boost. Since the 1.3 internals arn't ment for such thing, i think that could make a big cost total. That's why i thought it would be cheaper and better to throw a stock 1.5 turbo from the Vitz/Yaris RS turbo..

the 1.5 is identical between turbo/non turbo versions, not really factory-designed for boost either...
