dashboard led

Bought a yaris 1.0 2002 silver well smart now all of a sudden the speedo does not work all of the rest of the lights work any ideas out there sorry my first post is like this but it is a smart looking car. Was working inthe morning now not at night.

headlights on as it is night even if i turn headlights off stays the same

Im a total newbie at this where are the fuses ive only driven old micra before this

The under-dash fuse panel is behind the access panel to the left of the steering wheel (on a left hand drive car) or to the right of it (on a right hand drive car).

thanks il have a look and see if a fuse is gone hopefully its just that strange one all the other lights on dash work like doors temp and handbrake but not the speedo just shows to tiny red lines if its not the fuse does it look like i need a replacement speedo is it easy to replace a dash is it just plug in

The other lights are powered off the circuits they are associated with, so with the GAUGE fuse out, they would still work.

If it does turn out to be that the speedo is bad, it is not difficult to remove and swap the instrument cluster. Th only issue is that your odometer will read whatever the replacement one reads.

Another update i love the car nice smooth drive i thought by resetting the ecu would solve it but didnt i unplugged the battery left it off for a bit connected back up speedo starts showing then 2mins later starts going dimmer then goes off any ideas before i send it off to the garage.

That is very strange. If you don't unplug the battery, does it still come on for about 2 minutes when you start the car, or does it remain off until you once again unplug the battery?

If the latter is the case, then I would suspect a failure in the drive circuitry for the VFD.
