Changing Headlight Bulb Tutorial

Hey guys, correct me if im wrong, but i think i remember reading a thread about changing headlight bulb tutorial in the forum before, and im planning to change my bulbs this weekend, so i want to find the tutorial and read about it. oh and if you guy have any opinion or idea about the bulbs, throw them in here and i will be happy to hear about them.

Im planning to get the PIAA H4. is there a blue coating on the bulbs? and i have fog lights as well cuz of the RS model, not sure if the white light from the headlight would match the stock yellow light from the fogs

I think all the PIAA's have a coating.

I'll be pulling these out of my brand new fog lights and will likely offer them here cheap. If your fogs take H3, you might want to buy them from me to better match your headlights.

i read it and since my car is not here with me and those diagrams are shitty so i dont have a picture of the headlight unit in my head in order to understand them or maybe im just too neewb.

Violin: is it hard to change the fogs? because in the manual it said bring it to the dealer if you want to change them because you may damage the vechile.

The headlights are quite easy to change.

It's a bit of a pain because there is not much room between the rear of the lens assembly and the other engine components for your hand to maneuver and remove the light bulb.

Patience and persistance will get it done in 5-10 minutes.

Remember to wear gloves. If you don't have gloves, don't touch the glass area of the bulb.

To change fog lights:

1) Jack up the car (optional to an extent)*
* make sure it's supported by jack stands - SAFETY FIRST!
2) If your head is not too big and you are slim, and if you can squeeze your head and shoulders under the front bumper under the fog light, you are good to go
3) Take off the 3 bolts that hold the lower splash guard to access the fog light assembly
4) Disconnect fog light, twist fog light out
5) Replace with new fog light, reconnect molex plug

Oils from your hands will cause them to burn out really fast. Take them out and clean them with isopropyl alcohol and reinstall them using gloves.

Think of it as practice, as your going to be pulling them soon, once they blow.

Take V's advice, and clean them before that happends... and to answer your next question, you can buy the isopropyl alcohol at any food store, or pharmacy.

swapping the bulbs is not for those with big hands...

some blood sweat and tears later... I got mine swapped out, but it was so extremely hard to fit my fat hands in there.

The manual is very vague... but it tells you enough so that you can do it.

If you are installing fog lights, then I believe you have to remove the bumper to accomodate and route the wiring.

But if you are only changing the bulbs for the fog lights, removing the bumper is not necessary.
