park lights not working

Hi I don't know if this question have been posted before, but I am having a light problem with my 2006 yaris spirit. The park lights, number plate lights and fog lights, front and rear, seems not to be working when I switch on the lights. I have checked all the fuses in the fuse box, which is fine, and I have checked the bulbs which also seems to be fine. Even the green indicator in the dash board that shows my lights are on is also not working, can anyone help me please, thank you.

Did you check the fuses in the fuse panel that is under the bottom of the dash? The typical culprits are the TAIL, PANEL1, or PANEL2 fuses.

OK. Next try bypassing the headlight switch. There are a bunch of different wiring configurations for the European built Yaris, so if you can snap a picture of the connector at the base of the switch I can tell you which wires to jump to bypass the switch (remove the two screws that are visible when you turn the steering wheel and the one down by the tilt lever to remove the lower steering column cover).

OK.

It looks like you have a right hand drive Yaris, since the headlight switch is on the "wrong" side.

The large white connector above is the headlight switch connector.

If you jump (with a small piece of wire) the green wire towards the center on the bottom row to the white wire on the end of the bottom row (opposite the violet wire). That will bypass the headlight switch. If the tail lights and the indicator on the dashboard come on when you do that you will confirm that the switch is bad.

I have done as you've asked me, and the indicator on the dashboard and tail lights do come on. Does that mean my light switch need to be replaced?

Correct - That indicates that the contacts within the switch have failed.

I too now have the same problem. I however do know that the switch is negative trigger (thanks to my husband). He has come up with a solution, using a relay and the ignition 12 volt feed to have the park lights always on when car is started. The problem he now has is he can't remember the wire on the light side of switch (not small white under grey in picture). Can anyone help please?

I would need to see a picture of the light switch connector, like the ones above, as the Australian Yaris is wired differently than the US or European market ones.

Hi. I read all the information and tests to be done. I did the test to see if the headlight swich is faulty and headlight and dashboard indication lights came on. What swich is exactly the headlight switch. Is it the complete unit with indicators and fog lights and headlights or is the headlight switch a switch I can buy separatly and install myself?
