What the heck!!! 2010 Yaris KBB value
Looked up the trade in value for a 2010 Yaris 3 door HB with auto, all weather and power package. Only 10650 miles and the trade in value is only $9525 for good condition and $10175 for excellent condition. That's over $4000 drop since purchasing it in Jan of this year. Probably due to all of the recalls. There are lawsuits against Toyota for this reason.

Welcome to the world of autos aka the worst investment one can make.
Fwiw trade will always be the lowest value for a car. |

Yeah, look up what they sell for used at the dealers - probably only a thousand less than the new price, $11-12,000. Regardless, its a new car - the first mile is the most expensive mile.

I just refinanced my 07 Sport with 42k and they said the wholesale on it was only 7600...I paid 16k for mine when I bought it new. They said high retail was 11,300 and trade in was around 6800...so, yeah, when my ex-wife asks if I want more power why I don't buy something else I have to look at my investment and say, "are you f'in nuts?" I will lose so much if I sell and get something else, besides, I love the damned car.

another thing to note is that a lot of banks if not most don't use KBB, they use NADA which prices different depending upon your region.

Pricing
Rough Trade Average Trade Clean Trade CleanRetail Base Price $5,400 $6,350 $7,100 $9,425 Mileage: 57,000 -$175 -$175 -$175 -$175 This is NADA's pricing for my 2007. You just have to look around, but kbb is used by dealers because it usually has the lowest numbers. So basically if i cleaned my car up nice, and put it all back together I could sell it for $9k, which means I spent $1k a year to drive it. That is rather amazing.

Hershey, that is a very typical drop. Remember, we're talking TRADE value, not what the car is actually worth. Dealers give peanuts for trades because they need to make a good profit after any repairs and maintenance they need to do to the car. And this has nothing to do with the recalls to address non-existent problems that werae really the result of driver incompetence.

Quite aware of that . We've been dealing with dealers for over 20 years . When we bought the '09 5 door auto with power package and all weather package in MARCH of 2009 with a M.S.R.P. of $15,975 -$1,000 TOYO rebate and a dealer discount of $1,175 equaling $13,800 with 11,000+ miles we were given $11,750 ( GOOD condition ) towards the 2010 3 door bought in mid JAN. 2010 . That's about 11 months with a drop of $2,050 . The 2010 3 door auto with power package and all weather package with 10,650 mis. had a M.S.R.P. of $15,823 with a $750 TOYO rebate and $750 dealer discount making it $14,363 . K.B.B. as of now is $10,175 for EXCELLENT and $9,525 for GOOD . That's a drop of $4,188 for the EXCELLENT value in about 9 months . Was told by one MAZDA dealer go by K.B.B. GOOD condtion , not EXCELLENT . Then there's the GOOD condition trade in value making a drop of $4,838 !!! That's over 2X less the book value compared to 1 and 1/2 years ago . Anyone who thinks these gas prices are cheap needs to be in a mental institution or just simply drug into the middle of the street and shot.

Try living in another country where you might be paying over $8/gal. I bet you have no problem paying $1-$1.50 for a 16 ounce bottle of water though. Or $6.00 for a bag of popcorn (worth about 25 cents) at the movie theater. And do you think it's the big evil oil companies charging a ridiculous $2.50? Actually, they get a small portion of it. The US government makes more on gas doing NOTHING than the oil companies that do all the work. Then of course there's all the other people that have to get paid. Trucking companies/drivers and gas stations. A lot of work goes into getting a gallon of gas into your gas tank. Isn't it already a good deal that it's cheaper than soda? |
