Exhaust Question

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this thread, but I'll give it a shot anyway. I'm looking to upgrade the exhaust on my '09 LB and I'm looking for the least 'ricey' sounding option. I'm liking the look of the Megan header and axle-back combo. Anyone running this combo that can give me feedback? Is this a solid option? Also, would I need a new mid pipe if I decided to go this route or will the stock one work?

Stock pipe or midpipe will work with all axle-back exhausts.

ALL aftermarket exhausts are axle-back.

Megan header is great -- I had that on my car before, good quality, good performance.

Ricey - does that mean loud, or buzzy, or both?
For me, I don't like buzzy bee exhausts.

Tanabe Medalion Touring or Nitto are two that are warm and low, and not too loud.

Hey there;

We have a sport tuned TRD exhaust which is a low rumble sound for the Yaris.

Here is a link for it on our site:

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm looking for something not too loud or buzzy... the least 'lawnmower' sounding option, I guess is the best way to describe it. So I can use the Megan header and axle-back with my stock pipe? I want to keep it emissions safe.

I use a Nitto exhaust that I purchased from Cali Yaris. It has a very deep and low tone, and it's also not too loud. Very good exhaust choice in my opinion, and I will never change it.

Garms websute (microimageonline.com) has sound clips on it, and you can hear a few of the exhausts. Also, searching on youtube can yield many sound clips of dif. setups, as can searching on YW itself. I can say for sure that the tanabe like garm said, is nice and low and has good tone without sounding like a windup car or bumblebee

Exactly what I wanted to hear! Not ricey or lawnmower-y then? This is my first four cylinder... I'm used to Mustangs, etc so I'm hoping for something deep and throaty, not buzzy.

Put an AFE intake on it and it growls even better

Done and done! That was actually my first mod, which I did a few months ago. So it seems like the answer to my original question is 'yes', the Megan header and intake are a solid option to get the sound I'm looking for?

the megan header really doesn't make a noise...

you'll need an exhaust for that.

If you decide to go custom, i found this video that i took awhile ago on the dyno. Its my custom setup that i got going. Its 2inch piping from the middle Cat-back, with a Walker Stainless steel muffler and a dual Xforce tip on it for looks. If you can't find Walker...the same company who makes them is called Lukey Muffler. So Walker/Lukey Brand. Im running stock headers, but i have an AFE intake.

Here's a video of what it sounds like: (Sounds different from inside the car though)
