center console lock button

has anyone ever actually used the lock button in between the front seats before??? i can honestly say that i used mine for the first time last night in the year and a half that i have owned the car.

my friend and i were in a shady part of the city and there were a couple bums walking in circles in the middle of the road so my friend goes "uhhh... where's the locks in this thing" so i push the button all excited to use it... i later realized that i had unlocked the doors because i was unfamiliar with the button and didn't realize that backwards was unlock. oh well... the bums didn't try anything anyway (and i wasn't going to make a stop leaving the parking lot anyway to find out if they would).

I blow people's minds all the time with that one. If that doesn't work, opening up all the glove boxes and asking them to find the cup holders usually does the trick. Not such a simple little "clown car" anymore, is it?

I cant say I've used it more than 2 or 3 times.... I dont see the point of it, I mean unless the passenger gets real uncomfortable in the ghetto your driving in and your not a gentleman enough to hit the button 6 inches over from where you hand rests......

It's mainly for your passenger. Yours is on the door. I've only used mine when I was a passenger. It is convenient.

I'm assuming this is for cars with power locks? I don't see any button.

yes, only for the power package owners. ^

I've used mine..maybe....3 times, actually USED it, and not playing around w/ it when I'm sitting in the car waiting for someone~

It's useless to me because I never pay attention/look down there...

haha i have no problem being gentleman enough... i just don't use it ever. haha i have only sat shotgun in my car once so i guess i never realized the passenger door didn't even have a lock button. and i love the "find the cup holders" trick, one of my favs!!!

so we weren't actually in the ghetto... just a not good part. i've been to our ghetto (student taught in about 2 blocks away from our most infamous street). haha i don't usually feel unsafe, but apparently my friend does, and in turn found my lock button :-).

what could you turn that button into??? i mean, what kind of gadgets could make use of that stock lock/unlock button with a little rewiring???
