Oil consumption issues in Yaris?

Are they common in Yaris with the 1.5 liter gas engine sold in US? I'm active on Priuschat and apparantly it's common in prius with the same engine (+ Atkinson cycle) to develop oil consumption over 150,000 miles.

I haven't heard any high mileage Yaris owners complain of oil consumption, so it may be that the extra compression of the Prius' 1NZ-FXE is to blame.

5w30 is reccommended over here for those engines.
But how about having a look inside the head of the engine?
Usually valveseats/seals whatever or pistonrings are causes of oil consumption. My T-sport with the 1NZ-FE went through about half the measure on the dip stick(Maybe less, I didn't check the oil level at delivery....) in about 2500 miles, nothing too shocking but compared to my old panda where I'd just change the oil once a year and be done it's a bit extra.
But meh, I'll just swap out the oil in the summer again and that should be that.

435476 miles here. Burning 1qt a week. Anyone know if we also got that extended engine warranty like the 2liter guys did?

435k miles...there's obviously going to be warranty coverage for oil consumption.

No need to be a dick noob

They've done Corolla and Camry engines with over 250K and still did it because it was within 10yrs.

Only the 2AZ-FE had extended warranty due to excessive oil consumption.

I'm sure that engine had issues with head failure due to the threads for the head bolts giving out too.

Are they giving out? Pretty sure it was something about the cylinder seal. Anyways, let's stay on topic with the 1nz.

Toyota Warranty Intake Specialist will request conversion of quarts/week into miles(kms)/qt(liter).

Your engine is just worn out mate. Either get it rebuilt or get it replaced with a low mileage used one.
