Will the new TOYOTA engines be available on next generation Toyota Yaris hatchback fo

I think that the TOYOTA YARIS hatchback will reach the end of its run in the U.S market in the year 2017. After that it will be only that Mazda 2 ("Yaris") for sale.

Too bad now that TOYOTA has the 1.5 1NR-FE and 1.2 Turbo 8NR-FTS available and the Vios/Vitz/Yaris get it.

Turbo Yaris would be so darn cool. I'd love that with a stick... but only if it's not Mazduh.

So just a year or two selling Mazdas badged as Yaris? And early Yaris naming mixed up w/ Echo and Vitz. Parts counter confusion down the road. Stupid.

Yes. vibe/matrix (like corolla/prizm) was one car being sold w/ 2 names...Mazda/Yaris deal seems to be different cars sold w/ same name (for year that it is called Yaris, but is a Mazda, or has Mazda engine), and THEN same car w/ name being changed from Mazda to Yaris...I think. It's confusing.

from what i understand, the 1.5 in the new yaris is a new mazda unit, not the same that was in the old 2. its also got a 6 speed manual, where the old 2 was a 5 speed.

the mazda engine is also better on fuel than the 1nzfe (either thru gearing or engineering or both)

im not exactly seeing how having the new iA/yaris as a rebadged mazda is a detriment...its better on gas, handles better, still reliable...

The reliability issue is where my concern is. I despise Mazda and bought a Toyota for a reason.

i almost bought a 2014 mazda2 and didnt come across any significant issues with that vehicle in my research...

id be more concerned with subaru boxer longevity in the 86 over mazda tech in a toyota....

If toyota makes a turbo sedan yaris with a manual...i may just buy it.

However I thoroughly enjoy no longer having a car payment.

mazda makes great cars! I thought the 2 was based on the ford fiesta?
I see there is not a manual option for iA. lame! the yaris is still there in 2017 though with a MT

This is how most of the Mazda 3's look around here. They aren't even that old!

Yep. Around these parts, compare Mazda3/6 to Toyota Echo/Yaris/Matrix/Corolla same vintages, and the Mazda's are a rotting mess while Toyota shows minimal to rust free. Hell, even going back further to the Protege and Trecel era, I still see Trecels on the road. Protege very rarely now. Really makes me shy away from Mazda until they can really start to prove themselves body wise. Shame since everything else about a Mazda is near stellar imo.

If you have a 10+ Mazda, it wouldn't rust as bad as the first gen Mazda 3 did.

We've abused a 2010 Mazda 3 for 6 years and has not shown any signs of rust, except where the tail light got pushed in and rubbed paint away.

We also have a Mazda 2 2012, and is also rust free despite being abused and not washed by our technicians.

I would buy a new Mazda without hesitation.

Tercels rot in the rockers and in the quarters...usually not too bad if you stop it in time

I didnt...my rocker rust got into the control arm mount and it almost ripped out on 225 hoosiers
