Does anyone know typically how long a unpaid wages claim usually takes?
My last employeer never paid me my last paycheck. Well they did but i was short over a week of pay as well as a lot of overtime. Whenver i tried to contact the owner he would never reply to his phone calls. So I filed a unpaid wages claim.
Before i left the premisis that day i was smart. I went into the computer system printed out all my time sheets and work hours so i have all proper documentation of what days i work and how many hours. So when I went to the mediation meeting i though it owuld be cut and dry. So simple i have so much evidence i worked. And my paycheck stub shows im short all these hours. But when i show up the other party never came. And when the lady at the unemployment office tried to call they never responded. What a headache. So she said she would have to set up a court hearing to force them to show up. Now its been well over a year. I still have no got the money i am due. As a result because of california i am entitled to a few thosuand more dollars as a penalty to them but it dosnt really matter since i dont know how much longer it will be till i get the money i am owe. I call the labor board office every couple of weeks. They just say all they can do is put a note in the system to record i called but they cant give me any sort of time frame. Anyone who had to go through the help of labor board for unpaid wages could you please let me know what your results were. I really hope its not going to be like 3-4 years before i get the money back. I was really hoping to use it to pay down my car loan. Or at minimum put it in a high yeild cd and gain interest on it.
