That indicates an issue within the evaporative canister back by the gas tank. P0453 could be caused by any of the following:

Canister pump module
• Connector/wire
harness
(Canister pump
module - ECM)
• EVAP system hose
(pipe from air inlet port
to canister pump
module, canister filter,
fuel tank vent hose)
• ECM

Look at page 207 of the Engine Control section of the service manual and work your way down from there for instructions on how to determine what the actual problem is:

I now see why yours lacks the evaporative canister.

Here is the system on yours:
Japan - Evap.jpg

Here is what ours looks like:
US - Evap.jpg

I would suggest disconnecting the charcoal filter (the little box on the rear left of your picture above) and verifying that it is not fuel or water saturated.

Its most likely a bad fuel tank pressure sensor. I believe its a 2 wire sensor thats located somewhere on top of the gas tank thats pressed in. Never changed one on a yaris but typically thats the most common for that code. That or a stuck closed canister purge valve.

The Yaris doesn't have a fuel tank pressure sensor and the OP's JDM Vitz lacks a canister purge valve, like USDM Yaris have.
