Hard time choosing color; dark colored cars absorb more heat??

Now that I decided to special order my Yaris Sport sedan, I can have whatever color I want, but can't make a decision..

(U can simulate colors at toyota.com, look on left at bottom, click colors)

It's between white, silver, red, or blue exerior. (Charcoal interior anyway).

White's kinda sorta out, I dunno y.

Silver was o.g. my 1st choice, now it looks 'bland'

Red is gorgeous, but dark, and red cars get pulled over the MOST.

Blue is gorgeous, but dark, I really like it.

I'm in Houston where it feels like a skillet. I'll probably be here for 2 more years.. I like the blue but I wanna know ur input on how true it is/how much it will affect the temperature having a darker car? Thanks!!!

my car is Blue, it heats up like nobodies business but I dont have tint. Run the AC and its all good. Choose the colour you like and deal with it later, at least with AC you CAN deal with.

Yup, true that. I've got the Flint Mica color (Dark Grey). Heats up, but with the A/C blasting, won't feel it a bit.

Glass is where the heat gets in! Tinted windows help a lot. Dark cars just manage to get 10x more scratches, and are hard to keep clean. Ive owned a black car for 4 years, and wont ever own one again!

^^^ What he said. There is nothing prettier then a freshly washed, waxed and polished black car, for about 5 minutes. :D

exactly what they say. black is WAY tough to maintain and shows dirt and grime BADLY. silver or white are good for this reason. The dark blue color is very nice, though the bayou blue is starting to grow on me as well.
I've got the Black Sand pearl and I'm loving it. Though, if I didn't have COVERED PARKING I would not suggest it. If you get black, make sure to get it tinted. Not only will it reduce the heat inside the car, but it also looks 10x better on a black car. Plus, (as someone previously noted on YarisWorld) it makes the drive-ins a bit more private

A insurance sales friend of mine had stated that white cars are involved in less accidents, He said thats why alot of fleet cars and trucks are white.
Phone company, gas company, water all use white.
They just look at all these things when they give there rate quotes. And he also agrreed to the post about red getting pulled over. He also stated that most fire/medic units are going white or yellow, staying away from the traditional red fire truck. These are never hard facts, just perceptions.
Please no flameing I love RED Like that Blazin blue also. Get a remote car starter and you can have any color. Start it 5 mins before you get in with AC blasting..lol

Get blue, its a great color.

I have the red, and I just don't think much of it.

As for heat, tint the windows and it won't be a problem.

Plus the yaris' AC is really good.

I own a black car now but the Van I had before was Silver, in my personal experice that car cooled down easily, of course where I live we have seasons but even in the summer...silver is just as reflective as white or about, and I personally think it looks good. But obviously in the end its up to you! If I were in the market for a Yaris hatch I would either get the Blazing Blue, possibly the Bayou Blue and/or Silver. Good luck and keep us posted!!!

Wow! Such useful information. Some1 pls explain tho, I thought dark cars were better 'for' scratches since it's a dark background and it 'blends in' . Lol my mother used to dress me in darker colors all the time just for the food stains she was expecting. It kinda made sense to me cuz on a white car, the 'stains' / scratches are usually of color, so it's easier to tell since the background is so bright (think about the diff b/t takin ur pic at night in front of a white car vs. a black car.)

Anywhoo, I down to silver or the deep blue. Red is gorgeous but I don't wannna meet the po po anytime soon

I work in an Oil Refinery, so my first choice was the Meteroite Gray (I hate black!) but I wound up with Polar White instead... Its actually been pretty good, but Im also a freak at protecting my cars paint, and keeping them clean.

lighter colors like white and silver are much easier to maintain and still look cleaner even when dirty. They also don't show imperfections as much as darker colors.

All my dialy driver have always been white, finally the rest of my family understands why and are now buyin white and silver cars LOL

Silver doesn't show scratches as much and is the easiest to keep clean....but the blue just looks the best hands down. Why do you think that Toyota uses the blazing blue in most of it's comercials???? Because they want to sell cars, and the blue is definately the best color. Of course I have a blue one......but that doesn't effect my opinion at all.....
