Manual Trans Fluid

Questions are for manual transmission fluid - NOT Auto.
1- Is OEM fluid synthetic or dino?
2- How does OEM fluid compare to redline MT-90 viscosity-wise? Is one thicker than the other, or about the same?

I've always used Redline in my trans, the shifting is much easier.

I've used a bunch of various fluid in my trans including MT-90. My current favorite that I'll be stocking with it Amsoil MTG, it's a true GL-4 75-90 which is recommend from factory.

If you aren't hard/fast shifting or driving in extreme cold temps than stock with oem. If not then go Amsoil imo.

Many on here had issues with mt-90 due to it being a GL-4 and 5 rated fluid. I personally didnt have any grinding issues but the Amsoil seems smoother and better in cold and last longer than the MT-90 which seemed to wear out after 10k km or so

I'm not sure what the oem fluid is

1. OEM just states: gl-4 or gl-5 75w-90
most (pretty much 99%) dealerships use bulk oil barrels from a local oil company.
2.(generally speaking) it would very depending on the area/refinery dealership to dealership.

It looks like something is written on a white sticker on a 2007 drain plug. Anyone know what it says?

I used a cheap semi synthetic 75w90 GL4 oil when i did my clutch. Its only done 2000 miles so far so i can't pass judgment but i haven't noticed any real change apart from a slightly louder high pitched wine from the gearbox at 50mph.

I'm not sure there is a need for all singing all dancing fully synthetic gear oil unless you live in the northern US/Canada or maybe parts of central Europe or Scandinavia.

Thanks all.. Im not looking for suggestions on which fluid to use. I already know I'm using either OEM or MT-90.. I still have factory fill, and I don't want to put thinner oil in. If OEM is thinner, I'll switch to the MT-90. IF MT-90 is thinner I'll stick with OEM. Anybody got a fresh bottle of both to do a shake test?

Castrol oil selector says singlegrade 75W GL4 oil, it also what my user manual says.
http://applications.castrol.com/oils...t-i-(2005-2009)
I cant link directly to yaris oils but select europe and UK.
I have put a pic in another thread in here from the manual with oil recommendations from my user manual.

The issue has also been discussed on the danish toyota forum, and the conclusion is that multigrade oil gives poor shifting and noise.
