What's that clunkin' noise? I'll show you...
Well, that's not how I left you...
ohhh... After driving who knows how fast for the last three + hours I finally figured out what that clunking noise was I had been hearing since right about when I got off the off ramp to my work. I could only hear it when I was dropping the clutch or over a large bump. I was pretty sure my exhaust had somehow worked itself loose so I figured "meh, I look at it when I get home and the engine cools off"...dumb. I don't even know where the second bolt is. There was no trace of it other than the shiny ring where it used to be. I had actually jacked the engine back up prior to taking these pics because I was worried about the AC line. The bracket on the engine side had come to rest on the line and as such has left a significant dent in the aluminum. The motor was resting on the AC line and the fender for hours, sometimes at higher than average speeds. I pulled the engine mount, pulled the belt, pulled the water pump pulley, pulled the mount from the engine block, backed the broken bolt out, replaced the block mount, replaced the pulley, replaced the belt and replaced the engine mount. Now I am waiting on the two bolts from Toyota, they will be here in the AM. It took about 1.5 hours.

There is also supposed to be a nut on the bottom side, so there are a total of three fasteners holding that puppy down.

Thank you for reminding me Scott!! I noticed it was gone too and forgot to order it earlier. I just called back and made the cutoff.

The scariest thing is that (of all of the pictures that have been displayed recently) your bolt looks the 'most pristine' re condition. I hope the break is a result of your driving style (of course wishing it hadn't happened at all) and not a lack of quality re the bolt (which might 'afflict' those of us who drive like the L.O.L. going to church ).

MORE LOW!
How does something like that even happen? It takes a pretty hefty amount of force to shear like that. |

My thought as well, and with the way I drive this car there is no way that one bolt could hang. My Yaris is trying to kill me this last month! Haha, first the brakes now this.

It's all that yellow paint weighing the motor down.

The loaner! Mother in laws blue 07...I put those smoked signals on there, I had a set laying around and figured what the heck.
Luckily I went by Toyota to check the parts, they had ordered me the wrong bolts! They got the correct bolts on the PM order so I should still be good to go today. It feels strange being in a stock Yaris again, and an automatic at that. I keep trying to hit the clutch, lol.
