Mazda2 headed to North America

I was just wondering why the Mazda2 wasn't coming to North America, and low and behold, now it is!

I'm more of a fan of the previous generation's body style.

With some work they look pretty nice though.

It looks better than the Yaris stock for stock.

I was going to say I was surprised you spotted that (even with the logo on the side) but I forgot you own a Miata.

I owned a 97 mazda.... and it was ok... but that was also the year ford took over. I'd be afraid of buying the newer stuff. I figure Toyota will last longer than any other brand with comparable subcompacts out right now.

I wish that toyota would emove the back seat... on the 3dr hatch and just make it a cargo area, and take off say 6" of length.

Love it or hate it, competition is good, and I'm glad to see more small cars hitting the market!

My dad had a mazda 3 and it had 130000.00 miles on it and absolutely no problems with it. Mazdas quality has gotten a lot better since the days of the protege.

My first car was a Protege and it didn't give me any problems for the 6 years I owned it

Very good point, and I actually like it but I still think it resembles the Yaris. Of course, that is not a bad thing!

But you are absolutely correct, the American market needs to continue having vehicles like this introduced to it. Too many Hummers, SUVs and pick-ups around here and the vast majority are never utilized to their capabilities (find me a Hummer with mud on it...a very rare thing in these parts!). At least I use my Jeep for offroading.

I travel to Europe quite often (I am actually flying to Germany tomorrow) and I always see some great small cars that we never see over here. Nice to see another one make the leap...

Cheers! M2

My hopes are that we can turn to sensible driving habits across the U.S. and get rid of all these ridiculous Lincoln Navigators and giant lifted trucks and Escalades.

Also I can't wait for the micro car scene to explode so us Yaris / Fit fanatics aren't so lonely
