squeeking clutch on a d4d

as stated above we have a 2002 d4d yaris in the family which has developed a squeek when you depress the clutch!and the local toyoa dealer recommends a new clutch@£600the clutch feels fineany ideas people?

You need to provide more information. If it is the throw out bearing, it could mean a new clutch is in order.

Yeah, need a little more description.

Is the squeak while the pedal is being depressed (the motion of the pedal is causing the squeak), or is the squeak constant AFTER the clutch pedal is depressed.

If it's clutch pedal motion, could be the pivot point at the end of the clutch slave cylinder needs some lube, or even just the pedal linkage needing lube. If the squeak it constant when you push in the clutch, it could be the throwout bearing. The work required to replace the throwout bearing is 95% of the work required to replace the clutch, so you might as well replace the clutch at that point.

Definitely get a second or third opinion before you go replacing the clutch!

it squeeks only when pressed and the noise is from under the bonnet!

If it's a very light squeak, it could still be the slave cylinder rod. Pretty common issue.
