Yaris Super trip to buy aftermarket parts / 1500miles (2547km) in 36hrs / Pictures

Recently I agreed to buy some used automotive parts from a seller in Columbus Ohio (London Ohio, which is about 15miles west of Columbus)

The seller was steadfastly refusing to ship (even though he said he works for a major shipping company), and the price was too good to refuse, on some discontinued hard to find parts

There are no shortage of board members in or around Columbus, but only
33OH was helpful in offering to meet the seller halfway for me and then ship the wheels to me (they were about 2+ hrs apart) , but the seller refused to leave London Ohio.

AND

I had previously bought some parts from MicroImageOnline that didn’t fit my stated application (although they were supposed to) , and by driving to Columbus Ohio I would be able to save a part of the order from MicroImage for the used parts and only return half of the incorrect stuff.

So………………………………………………….

ROADTRIP!!!!

In the end I was forced to drive 700 miles / 1143km ONE WAY in order to pick up these used parts.

-I left on a Friday morning at 4 am
-Crossed into the U.S.A (from Canada) at around 6:30am
-Took a rest stop in Syracuse NY around 7:30am
-Took a rest stop in Erie Pennsylvania around noon
-Made it to London Ohio by about 5pm
-got severely lost in tiny London Ohio (both Tom-Tom and Google Maps were wrong)
-Finally left London Ohio with my new (used) parts at around 8pm
-drove 275 miles (430km) back to Erie, PA on the same day (arrived around midnight)
-Stayed the night (1230am till 8am) at a Hampton Inn
-Saturday morning after eating breakfast I drove back home to Ottawa Canada from Erie Pennsylvania, this was a simple drive because it only lasted 470miles (750km)
-after several stops for shopping, I finally arrived back home around 930pm Saturday night.

All told, I drove 1,528miles (2,547km) in approx 36hrs with only 6hrs of total sleep during that period.

I had a good time, it was worth it, I loved driving my car the entire time. Only downside was my fuel economy wasn’t great because I was making pretty good time and I find with my current mods that my car really likes the 70-80mph range (it seems to be happiest just cruising at 75 ish) , also I guess spending 36hrs in the car by myself kinda sucked a little.

I’ll be doing a photoshoot of my new parts soon, and until then and you’re free to guess what they are.

Here are some hints.

-used
-never seen street use before me
-pretty rare
-Japanese in origin
-not currently sold by MicroImage, but something that they sold me accessories for (thinking that they were for something else I already owned)

Here are some pics from my trip

Cheers

Will

I was thinking the same thing. My next Toyota is definitely going to be white. Great wheels too. I'm in touch with the OP driving so far for a brief, singular purpose.....done that quite a few times for a myriad of reasons.

That trek sounds familiar :p I drove up to Kitchener, ON from Milwaukee, WI to meet up with people for the BBQ at thebarber's this summer and to get a few parts.

Can't wait to see what you got!

I made a similar distance trip several weeks ago out to Columbus OH. About 725 miles each way. LOOOOONG trip!

Couldn't imagine doing that roundtrip in 36 hours.

Great pics, nice car. Glad it all worked out for you.

Cheers

*I think the next trip out I'll stop at the Cabela's along the way and stretch my legs for an hour or three.

Have not been on here in awhile.

I might of been able to help, my kid goes to Ohio State U and I have in-laws on east side of Columbus!

Oh yeah, I live 2 minutes off I-90 40 miles east of Erie PA. Oh well.

The rims look great by the way!
