toyotatech makes me laugh!!!! first of all if you did re-search you'd see the tc and camry share a lot of things 1 of them being cooling parts. the tc shows a hole for the filter cause the camry can use one with no problem. are you trying to say there were tc's released that had filters in them but they stopped using them due to problems???? i don't think so!!!!! NO TC EVER PRODUCED CAME WITH A CABIN AIR FILTER..........

let me display my first post...

I cant say for sure why the yaris doesn't have one but I can tell you that on the Tc they had them but they actually had a cooling problem with them in there, so Toyota opted to just take them out. No official word from Toyota that I've heard but this could be the same with our Yarii

So where did I ever say they were released with one? Should I have said they tested the car with them? would that have made you happy? Read again very closely. I in no way ever said they came off the assembly line that way, you are just twisting what I said.

I think that we are missing the point here...
The point is THE LACK OF THE FILTER!

I don't care why or when or how! It is missing!

I have got an official answer from Toyota Europe that the car is shiped without a filter... There is no excuse about that! Only cost reduction and at the same time potencial health risk for the passengers!

When I asked them: Is my health affected by the lack of cabin filter?
They answered: Toyota has now evidence about that...

Filterless in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Yes I have no filter. Geeze. I popped the glove box the first day I had my Yaris, March 30, 2007, and marvelled at how clean my interior air will be, never verifying the presence of said filter. Tonight I just ran out and pulled the cover just like your guys have, and, no filter. Harmful, nope, I ride a motorcycle. Misleading, slightly. Thank you for mentioning this.

I know the first gen XBs didnt have an ac filter as well. I had to custom make my own since the factory one was a ripoff. If I recall, echos also lacked an air filter. not sure if XAs came with one.

Does all this filter crap even matter if I don't run the climate control? I do use it during the winter but it's not like there's a lot pollen running around then.

If you like to cut down on dust, pollen, and everything else in particle form being sucked in the cabin you might appreciate it. If you don't have a need/desire to keep this stuff out of the car then the filter will mean nothing to you.

A/C Filter

Would my US Yaris with Convenience Package come with an A/C filter installed?

Probably not, but It only takes 10 seconds to take out the glove box, pinch the 2 little points and remove the cover of the filter spot to check. That's your best bet.

You can buy a Purolator #C38188 A/C cabin filter (about $10) from an auto parts store .

So what is the answer? Does the filter cause overheating problems or not?

No! The simple reason Toyota didn't install a cabin A/C filter is because the OEM filter frame does not fit into the blower unit (which is crammed far to the left behind the glovebox).

However, you can gently twist a filter into the unit without using a frame.
