Is this a good buy??

I am looking at a 2008 3dr hb man with 58000 miles for 8400. Seems like it's kinda steep pricing for the miles but it is the cheapest I have found. Any feedback would be appreciated

That seems like a lot of miles, my 08 LB only has 15K on it but I have other vehicles that I drive. Still, 12-15K/yr is the "norm."

However, S models have cosmetic additions (wheels, spoilers, body skirts) that make them a little more rarer/desirable/costly.

If it's in good shape, and there's nothing mechanically wrong with the car, then it's probably not a bad deal. Is it a private sale or through a dealership?

Cheers! M2

Before mine was totaled.... I got it for almost ten grand exactly. 2008 hb with 40000 miles. Seems like a good buy to me.

Thanks for the opinions....it's at a dealership I'm trading in a Chevy Silverado reg cab 06 and difference after the trade is only $400. I know I should sell privately but I'm driving 100 miles a day and gas is killing me!

The price seems ok, but it really depends on what they are giving you for your trade, don't you think?

NADA has you priced low, so I'm thinking they are making out on your trade somewhat, and/or they bought the used Yaris "right"

I think the price and mileage are reasonable. I have the same vehicle but in the basic version, and at 120 mile/day, there is already 71K on the clock.

The S is a little sportier, so you might have an independent garage check out the wear and tear on the clutch and brakes. If that seems OK, consider changing the oil and transmission fluid after you buy it.

With some practice over the first year, you should be able to raise your MPG from the EPA rating to something close to 40.

Good luck.

While the price is right I cannot get over the mileage! I know rental cars get mixed reviews I have found that Hertz is routinely selling 5dr hb s models with 40-45k for 9300! Does this sound better despite rental history?

Have the dealer give you a full report from CARFAX . This will tell you if it was a rental , fleet vehicle or if one or many owners . It also will give you info on any accident(s) , the car repairs done , and maintenance records . We've been looking at Certified YARIS at TOYOTA website which gives you the records and have discovered YARIS with electrical problems , water pump replacements , etc.. Go to www.toyotacertified.com/ , put in ZIP CODE , the RADIUS for SEARCH ( drag arrow to right for distance ) , MODEL ( Yaris ) , MODEL YEAR ( 2007 > 2011, drag arrow to right for years ) , and click on SEARCH . Any CERTIFIED vehicle usually gets you an extended warranty . Last , remove the oil cap of the car of interest and take a small powerful flashlight and shine it into the oil fill hole to look for any buildup of oil ( sludge , heavy tarnish ) in the top of the engine . If so , walkaway . Good Luck .

Here's a better deal at RICK HENDRICK Toyota / Scion of Fayetteville , N.C.. It's a 2008 3 door YARIS S with 37,030 miles that's BLAZING BLUE with automatic tranny for $9,989 . There's a complete CARFAX . Looked at it and has had 2 owners The records seem to be clean of accidents or any mechanical issues ( check for yourself ) . You can always try to get a better price , but doubt they'll move much more . The remainder of the 7 year / 100,000 mile warranty will help you feel a little more at ease . Best of luck .
