Door Light Indicates 'Unlocked' - Toyota Yaris Forums

I'm totally Confused
2001 VVT-i

The 'door open' indicator light suggests that one of the doors in not closed properly. I've narowed this down to the hatchback door.

This means that I cannot lock the car (even manually). If I try to do this, the alarm automatically tries to set and then activates after about a minute. Hence I'm having to leave the car unlocked and this is far from ideal.

The alarm is a Laserline 970ir and looks to me like an aftermarket fitting but it works fine. The problem seems to be with the car 'door open' indicator.

Having stripped the door lock mechanism, I'm happy that the door does shut properly. It has two wires going directly to the lock (part of the toyota wiring loom) and I've tried to short these out or earth them to simply resolve the problem but this seems to do nothing to the door open light.

Can anyone suggest what I should try next?
