Yaris Headlight Swap

Hi,

I'm sure someone out there will know the answer to my problem.

A friend of mine has a '53' reg Yaris and has recently moved to France, therefore in order to import the car we need to swap the headlights for LHD ones. At first sight this seems quite straight forward, all you have to do is to remove the 2 mounting screws and slide the light towards the centre of the car................or so I thought.

Closer inspection of the light reveals a plastic pin on the rear of the light pointing to the right of the car for the right hand light (and left for the left hand light) which may prevent the sliding.

Now to my question - is it necessary to remove the front wheel arch liners to remove the headlights? This seems as though it might give better access.
