Toyota Premium Replacement Battery

It was time to replace my Battery (My car still had the original one and it wasn't too fond of cold mornings!) and only Canadian Tire and the Dealership had replacement batteries. I figured I'd spend the extra $30 and grab the "Premium" battery and not have to worry about a battery for a while.

Any idea who manufactures these for Toyota? I'm curious but couldn't even find a country of manufacture on the battery itself!

Originally they were Panasonic batteries and last I had seen they are made by Furukawa. Both are very good Japanese batteries.

I thought it was Facebook that made them (fb).

Jokes aside, mine recently died too and I couldn't quite find one that I liked or fit properly. Ended up getting an ACDelco one from Lordco, it was their premium one and it came to about $130 after my account discount.

I think Canadian dealers work a little different than US.

Batteries are sourced locally here. In Quebec, most dealers use batteries made by Exide Technologies.

Or it could be east penn. I'm getting 2 different information from the local forum.

True, but I doubt the "premium" battery Jayeh's dealer is selling is the Panasonic battery, especially not for only $30 more than a Canadian Tire generic battery.

I had to replace a battery in my Lexus IS300 and just on a whim, I asked the dealer how much a replacement Panasonic battery would cost. They told me that it was something they don't normally carry in stock, would be about $450 and would have to be special ordered from Japan and would take a couple weeks.

What do the dealers actually stock for replacements?

My Lexus dealer just had a Chinese made wet lead acid battery. I don't remember if they called it a "premium" battery or just a "regular grade" battery but it cost about as much as the AGM battery I bought at O'Reilly when I had to replace it again (mainly because I don't drive my IS much); I turned it in for the core charge when I bought the AGM battery from O'Reilly so I can't check.

I bought the generic Chinese made battery because I was in a rush to get a battery even though I wanted the Panasonic.
