Garage Pics

I'm closing on a new house tomorrow with a pretty big garage. 2 bays, each deep enough to fit 2 cars. It's my first house with a garage and I am psyched.

I want to see you guys' garages so I can get some ideas for how I want to set mine up.

Thanks! JAD, I like the flooring you had in your first house. I thought about doing that, but since this isn't my house (it's my bro's), I didn't want to spend too much money on house mods. lol. Painting the garage walls and ceiling already cost me $200, and I keep buying LED bulbs for the house. LOL. I'm on set number two. First set was bright white to match the built in recessed LEDs downstairs. The second set I bought were daylight color, but I only replaced the bulbs upstairs since there are no built in LEDs up there.

I'm also toying with the idea of changing the lights in the garage to these:

But that's going to be ridiculously expensive to create a few honeycombs. Would rather just spend that money on flooring. haha

lol, I guess I just like unique things that I don't see too many people having. That's why I got giant C9 Christmas lights for our decoration instead of what everyone else has. lol.

A garage where you can fit four cars? I'm so insanely jealous! I would love to get a fun car, like a BMW or Lexus, but the garage space is an issue. Technically, I own a two car detached garage. But my "house" isn't actually a house. It's a duplex, where I live in one side and rent out the other. My tenant has the other garage space. While I could, technically, take over the garage, it's bad for business. I live in cold, snowy Ohio, and you can get higher rent if you offer covered parking.

That sucks, but hey...gotta make that money.

I won't be putting 4 cars in the garage, though. It will likely be my Z31 and whatever new car we get for my wife later this year. The other cars will probably just stay outside and I'll be using half of the garage for a combination of storage, workout equipment, and music equipment.

+Leegamer Yep, I depend on the rent money to pay my property taxes. So, I need to squeeze out every extra penny I can. Although, if I can pull a permit, I may be able to build a carport space off to the side of the garage. Then I could make the tenant park in the carport and I can get the other garage space. This is an older picture. The shed you see is now gone, and that's the potential carport spot. However, that potential carport spot may or may not be on a utility easement. I would need to check with the city. Anyway, I wouldn't do any of this until my duplex is paid off in a couple of years. I prefer to pay off my mortgage debt before I even begin to consider buying any toys.

Anyway, I feel you on needing storage! A lot of my seasonal stuff, like gardening tools, wind up in my basement. That shed came with the property, but I had to have my contractor tear it down because it kept attracting thieves. And I live in a very good area. But because it's a nice area, we get a lot of opioid addicts coming in looking for stuff to steal and pawn. Oh well.

+justanotherdrunk Thank you! Full disclosure: My real-life job is an accountant. Though I work in the public sector (government job), not for a tax firm or anything like that. Of course, I learned about how money works through the accounting and finance classes I had to take in college. Every dollar I spend now is a dollar that I can't invest, or a dollar that I'll have to pay interest on because I didn't use it to make extra principal payments on my mortgage. I bought my property in 2014, and I expect to have it paid off next year. That required a lot of sacrifice, but it was totally worth it. It's too bad there's so little financial literacy in this country. People spend so much of their hard-earned money on interest payments, and that's a real shame.
