Do you know what rust converter is?
I was inspecting the work the mechanic who change my exhaust manifold doughnut did with the car up on ramps. This is my 2002 Toyota Echo I recently bought after I gave my son my Yarris. The mechanic mentioned the power steering hoses were ready to go. The rubber parts of the hoses were fine, but there are metal tubes that are part of the assembly which were heavily rusted.
I painted the metal parts with something called rust converter. It converts rusted metal back into metal. If you put two coats on, the metal has a hard black finish which could be painted. But it’s not necessary to do that the repair will never rust again. I found the stuff when I bought a Miata that must’ve been in a flood. The underneath of the car was severely rusted. But over a month I paid the whole thing with rust converter. I have the car for two years in New Jersey winters before I sold it. The rust never came back. Next time you’re the hardware store if you haven’t heard of this stuff grab a bottle and read the label. This stuff can save you in a bad situation!
