I clean my with soap and the power washer and store them in the basement. Blizzak tires probably 7-8 years old and still gummy soft.

the reason I don't like blizzak is because it's only half a snow tire. once it wears past halfway the compound in the tire is a lot harder and considered an "all season" tire.

Winter tires should be used till worn half way. Much before the thread warning bump...

Anyways, I am early this year too. Both my Yaris and my Mazda 5 are already on winters since Monday.

that's a good time to replace them. like I said, I buy 2 new tires, rotate the fronts from last year to the rears, pitch the old rears. new snows every year on the front!
I don't know how you could make them last 7-8 YEARS! 2, maybe 3 at the extreme most. (for me)

I figure every 8 years I buy 26 tires (summer and winter) for my daily driver....

At 5000km a year, each set of tires can last a lifetime.

I needed to get the UHP summer tires off. They'll be ruined by frozen temps. Plus, I have weekend college tours lined up for my daughter through November. Hard to believe that winter boots can be so much quieter than UHP summers. Much, much sloppier in the twisties and on-ramps though. :(

why? the winter will not do any damage to your tires. the road salts/gravel might cause some surface abrasions, but the main issue is traction loss.
unless you can tell me something I don't know. I love new information...
