Doors, seatbelts and parking brake indicators not working.
Hello guys.
I'm having a weird problem with my '11 Yaris LB. Most of the time the "BRAKE" light won't come on when the parking brake is applied. Door lights don't light up when doors are open and finally the seatbelt light wont come on when my seatbelt is off. The weird thing about this is that sometimes (randomly) these indicators work well and sometimes they stay on all the time. Are these 3 indicators related in any way? Kind regards. |

Well, so far all I have discovered is that all these things are controlled by the main body ECU. However I have no idea how to troubleshoot this.

They are all body ECU signals, which are then relayed to the cluster by CAN bus message. The best way to troubleshoot would be using an advanced diagnostic tool that can handle the Toyota specific information for all of the ECUs (such as the Toyota Techstream).

Well, what started as a couple of indicators not working ended in a full scale redoing of the car electrical harness.
80% of connectors were rusted or with sediments. Cables were spliced or ripped apart. The body control ECU was a rusty mess of cables, no wonder why things were going nuts. Anyways we are now putting the dashboard back together and going for a test drive. |
