Smile My 2014 Yaris L

I've just had this car a week, and I'm happy with it. Took it on a hwy. trip and got 42 mpg, driving 55 to 65 mph. Automatic transmission. That was while moving a folded treadmill , 2 suitcases, and 2 large boxes in the back with the seat folded down. It's like a little station wagon !!

The Yaris is definitely bigger and roomier on the inside than it appears on the outside.

The most that I have hauled in mine thus far is 4 bags of groceries and a case of bottled water, lol. I have yet to fold down the rear seats, but I did remove the privacy cover over the hatch storage area, and stored it away for now.

I did the same and usually roll around with the rear seats down.

I don't keep anything in my car either lol. People always comment on how my car looks like it's for sale on a lot; you can't tell anyone owns it. I'm anal retentive about locking my doors, though. I park in a attached garage and still lock 'em up.

Agree on all points lol. Lose my mind when I come up on someone going 65 in the far left lane. Moving roadblock, @$$hole #@$&s!

I leave the back seat down all the time , so the head rests don't block my rear view. I'm ready to flip it back up in a rare back seat rider occasion. The speed limits in Oregon are lower , 65 freeways and 55 on 2 lane highways. So it's easier to get better mileage, but not everybody observes those limits, especially on the freeway. Sometime I'll snap a better photo with my digital cam instead of my cell phone. Yes, I do like that light blue color that even shows up better in the shade.

NICE! ...and it's a coupe! You can take the head rests out, I have on my 2013 L - they should come out all the way. I keep the front passenger one in the back if I have a 2nd passenger...which is VERY rare. Removing the rear head rests will make the view GREAT.

Head rests

I know the head rests can be removed, but I like to have whiplash protection ready for my passengers. Removed headrests would end up on the floor, taking up storage space. or they'd end up in the house, lost somewhere. Keeping the seat down with head rests in place is the easiest solution for me.

Yaris versus Tercel

Gas mileage is the same as my previous 96 Toyota Tercel , with a 4 speed manual. So I'm impressed that an automatic Yaris does the same. I wonder if the 1.5 liter engines are the same, does anyone know ?

A quick google search provides you with that answer. While the Tercel had the same 1.5l displacement, it was not the same engine. Designation was 5E-FE.
