Well this doesn't bode well, I'd say...
We got buried last night... but I couldn't wait so I swept off the snow went for it. I was able to reach the spot but barely... after i got the connector off and got the SSK onto the armature I could NOT get the factory cotter pin into the post! I tried and moved it around... at one point I tried to remove the ssk so I could look at the post and see if something was wrong with and the thing was stuck on and would not be removed... then I dropped the freakin' pin! Thank God It dropped into the body work and not into the snow or I'd never have found it... I finally after trying and wiggling, it worked! I was thinking 'oh great, hope the other installs go better then this!lol I've yet to drive it but a quick run through the gears seems pretty cool... Can't wait to drive it but in the snow I wont be pushing it much until they clear the streets...

I had the same issue with the factory cotter pin on my SSK. I just didn't put it in because the SSK got stuck on the post.

Trying to make my wallet happy BTW, I love how the SSK feels so far... It feels tight and shifts seem quite a bit quicker... With all the snow I didn't get to do too many acceleration tests but so far very nice!

You didn't put it on?? holy shit! When you shift, I imagine that little part takes a lot of force... It's why it is made out of billet aluminum... If it pops off during a shift, you'll be stuck in gear and have to stop wherever you are until you can fix it... Hopefully not in a bad neighborhood or on the highway...

err um... I'm not sure what you're asking. If you mean "what does the short shift kit do?", then I would say that a short shift kit shortens the distance between gears on the gear shift, allowing you to change gears quicker with less time engaging the clutch. You can pop it into the next gear faster and get back on the throttle... It also feels better, more like a sports car with less slop while switching gears. So far I like it a lot, and I think I might give it the full NST treatment with bushings and the in-cockpit kit...

Well my NST underdrive pulley arrived yesterday but I was on my way to work and could only look at it. Here's a pic of it next to my psp on my perpetually messy desk. Over all it seems like a quality part, a real solid piece of metal, but something is bothering me... There's a dent in the edge like it was dropped onto a sharp corner or cut somehow. It not a big thing but it feels like the metal around the dent is pressed a tiny bit into the path of the belt(like a mm or less) and might abrade the belt and cause it to wear early. I guess it might be on purpose, but I'm not sure. Any one else have one like this? Also my other gripe is that I thought it was going to be red... The NST website doesn't ask which color you want so I should have guessed it might not come in the color I wanted. Micro Image not only ships you the color you want but is cheaper! I guess the gray color is ok however, since it's installed near the bottom of the engine and wont be as noticeable to the dealer if you have to take it to them to work on... I'm not sure where to go from here (I'm also wondering how hard the install will be lol) If you guys have the same dent then maybe it was on purpose and I'll install it otherwise I guess I'll have to talk to NST about a replacement...
