Takes less DIY know how, than a piston swap, and still runs on 83 gas. Not to mention more power. Super easy and can be done in a Saturday.

If the only reason to do any mod it be better than some other car, then why bother modding any car. We do it for the love of it. My Yaris was a blast to drive, and it was unique, and mine.

Buying some car that any can buy, isn't any fun for me.

Yes Bro!!! We manage to wangle ourselves in everywhere!!

But as far as I figured, the gearbox will be the same, but as you say, let's wait for someone who knows for sure to help out on that. Don't want to be going around talking

I also thought about the 1.5 swap, but for real bro, I'm seriously into doing some massive turbo'ing on the car at some point, so in the long run the 1.5 won't cut it when it comes to power output.

If I get the parts I sure will need the help!! so I'm all for the offered help! haha we'll make a jol of it like proud Suid Afrikaners!

This is why you can't use the Corolla/Matrix/Vibe engine bracket. All bolt holes for the engine block are aligned. Corolla P/N 12315-37030. The xD is 12315-37040.

Hi,

Can I use the stock 2008 Yaris 5 speed manual transmission with the 2ZR-FE?

My car is stock except for:
Fidanza Flywheel (8.64 lbs)
NST crank pulley
McLeod Stage 1 clutch
K&N OE filter box...

...That I installed this weekend.

Yes, you can use the gearbox but you need the xD mounts (all six pieces) and the xD shift cables. The flywheel won't work (6-bolt on the Yaris vs 8-bolt on the xD) but the pressure plate and friction disc should be fine.

As far as I know, this swap is not compatible with the Echo frame. The only reason it works with the Yaris is that the xD has the exact same lower half of the unibody as the Yaris.

That said, don't let me stop you from doing more research and finding out!

so will the highest ouput 2ZR fit in the yaris? aka the 148 HP one? cause like im about to ditch my 1nzfe as much as I love it, the greddy turbocharger on stock internals apparently makes 200Hp.

please post pics of the actual swap, putting the motor in, etc, excellent build thread, look forward to seeing how it actually looks with this motor inside it! Is the fuel pump enough not to starve this motor? Have you worn through axleshafts quicker?

All of the 2ZRs that we are aware of will fit, since they have the same mounting points. The difference in rated hp has more to do with the intake and exhaust setup on the specific vehicle, and possibly the tune in the ECU. I have looked at the Corolla turbo package from TKC and it seems like it could be modified to fit our engine bay. The base kit there is rated for 220 bhp.

As far as anyone can tell, yes. The chassis is the same on all of the USDM variants. We've had different results with the engine mounts on specific vehicles, so your mileage may vary. =)

There's a few threads out here already. Check out brushforhire's, ArmstrongRacing's, TMontague's and my thread for details. It's really pretty straightforward, so not a lot of pictures have been taken during the physical installation. I absolutely recommend pulling the front clip to do the swap, as well as partially dropping the sub-frame. It looks like a stock motor in the engine bay as well, so not a lot of pictures of that either. =D

Of what? As stated there are plenty of archived pics on the forum regarding the swap
