Is it required to get an alignment when putting on new tires ?

Not required, but sometimes recommended. The wear patterns on the tyres you are replacing can often answer that question.

What he said

If you have concerns with the alignment, post the print-out here and I can give more info. I've done a few thousand alignments so may know a thing or two.....

Possibly not, but after 40K or 50K miles on a set of tires, it might be time to get an alignment - just to make sure everything is set properly. $50 or $75 is about the standard rate for an alignment around here.
