Rota RB rims

I'm changing my DF210s for Megan Springs, hoping for a 1.5" drop all round. I'm considering the Tokico HP Blues shocks/struts.

I've decided to go with the following wheel: ROTA RB 16X7 (4X100 40mm offset).

Can anyone tell me whether I'm going to have rubbing issues with this set up?

If so, can I avoid rubbing by staying with a 15X7?

Not at all, you won't rub with that set up. You are good to go. But do you want your car lower cause if so TEIN springs will do the job, the Tokico blues are a great choice as well

I have the DF210s already. I'm not a fan of the lower drop in the rear over the front and they're just too low for some of our city potholes/speedbumps.

I think the Megans are a nice compromise between the DF's and NF's (TRDs etc).

The HP Blues and a TRD rear sway bar will give me the control I want with this set up.

I assume you mean I'm good to go with the 16X7's???

It depends on what size tire you're using. A 205/50/16 may rub a bit. A 195/50/16 should rub less.

Same spring setup (Megan) as me. 195s will not rub at all with a +40 offset. I only experienced issues when 10mm spacers were installed with my +42 16x7s wrapped in 195/50s.

205s on a 16x7, +40 may rub slightly on the left rear over hard dips.

I had 205/50/16 on 16x7 wheels with a +37 offset. I was lowered on Megan coilovers and they rubbed a lot. Granted, I was pretty low.

I found a great deal on Megans (in Canada) - Cool Direct had them listed for $139 including shipping. I ordered them online and a straight up employee informed me the online price was wrong. They still agreed to honour the price though, but said Megan would ship direct to me to minimize their losses. I received a FedEx tracking number. Megan sat on the shipment for over a week and I finally had to cancel. I have no bones with Cool Direct (Max) and would recommend them to any Canadians looking for Megan Springs. I'm choked that Megan lied about shipping them when they did nothing for a week.

So now I'm going with H&R Sport springs (1.4 front / 1.3 rear). Not as aggressive (less rub) but a nicer stance with the rear and a great spring.

I'm still going with the HP blues though. I think a 195/60 with a 40 offset should keep me rub free?

Thoughts?

195/50/16 is what you'll want, and a +40 should be fine. H&R makes a great spring.

The Nexen N7000's I've been running on my current 17s have handled and worn great, even in our Northwest RAIN. I have driven these tires hard on mountain switchbacks and they stick like glue.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good wet weather 195/50/16 that has a decent treadwear rating (360+)?

The critical figures are your offset. I'm not sure what the Teins drop you to (are you getting full dampers or the Dress Tech springs only?). I know with my existing Tanabe DF210s, the drop in the rear is at least 1.8. I have a 12" sub in my hatch which certainly adds weight so I have no room whatsoever for a lower offset (less than 40) rim. My existing 17" rims do not rub but I want a smaller, lighter wheel. Performance and aesthetics is why I am changing to the H&R sport springs. They drop a bit more in the front (1.4) than the rear (1.3). That gives an attractive gap but should allow a 40 offset rim with 195/50/16s and no rub. I am confident the H&R springs,Tokico Blues and MicroImage's rear sway bar will do the trick for the handling I desire.

Frankly, I think ANY rub is simply ridiculous, and I'm not into rolling my fenders or cutting plastic.

Bro - I don't know if you're married or have kids but let me tell you, my life's love for everything with with wheels/engines has come to a slow, painful grind.

My beloved black Yaris is an AT (wife could NOT learn a stick - which explains the sold RX8). Love my car but covet a 5spd.

Friend has a Ducati I fondle knowing I'll probably never own a bike again.

When you're staring at the top of a huge mountain from the valley of husband-ville, you climb the slow way - shocks are days away, springs are weeks away, and wheels/tires will get on after. Living in Canada hasn't helped trying to get decent deals without being buggered with shipping and customs.

It took a few weeks, but I finally got my rims today. Here's my '07 RS HB:

16X7 Rota RB (silver) 40 offset
195/50/16 Falken Ziex 512
H&R Sport Springs (Drop 1.4 F / 1.3 R)
Tokico HP Blues
TRD rear sway bar

I had my DC Sports ceramic header installed last week. I absolutely love the feel of the car now! The drop is less that what I had (DF210s) - but the ride is much more comfortable in the city and still tightens up nicely on mountain switchbacks/curves. I still want to do 10mm hub spacers on the rear to widen the track. Thanks to everyone who voted in the rim colour poll - I think the silver worked out great.
