Forgot to say my sister has had an audi a3 hatchback 2008 AT for 6 years at the same milage of mine and her car's steering wheel locked while I was driving 4 years ago at that time milage was like 60k and I was terrified(It happened twice). We have it fixed 2 times and transmission also broke down twice. Today a3's engine check light is still on(have never seen it off) I scanned DTCs MAF sensor, Fuel pressure sensor and O2 sensor broken down I have just ordered sensors to fix it. She is looking for a yaris today...

I've had my Yaris since December 16th, 2010. Zero problems, excluding normal wear and tear. Does it get any better than this? Don't think so. In terms of reliability, it's the best car I've ever owned. I'll probably end up giving it to my nephew when he graduates high school in 4 years, and then I'll get another one. If not new, used.

I still have my 2008 yaris brand new in replacement for my 2001 Toyota Tacoma because for one reason.....GAS!!
Freaking Gas sky rocket back 2006-2010. And the small cars re born.. from mini to VW to smart car to yaris. Mine came in fresh from the boat at the long beach I hav no regret when I exchange my truck for my Yaria. IMY YARIS... THE ONLY ISSUE I HAVE IS SAFETY!! IT'S A TIN CAN.. IT IS INCLUDED ON THE LIST OF CARS TO BE AVOIDED THAT WILL KILL YOU. IT IS TRUE ..IF YOUR AN AGGRESSIVE DRIVER, THEN BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!! But IF you are a good driver, that really loves cars. ....Boy it will.last. just make sure it is maintained pretty well. I have it 2008 and now it's 2017 and i still have it, never had an issue whet it comes performance. It May not be perfect but sure is fun to drive. be safe out there? I'm not so sure about this part, my friend. Over the years, a lot of people have posted about some fairly serious accidents they've been involved in with their Yaris and for it's size, has done really well in protecting them. It's not going to provide the level of protection a full size truck would, but I don't know about it being on any kill lists either.

Since when have fuel prices sky rocketed in the US? You still only pay like 2.80$ per gallon in California. In Germany regular petrol costs like 6.00$ a gallon, because of tax and other governmental shit. Americans can consider themselves lucky, that they can still drive their 6 Liter Trucks because of relatively cheap fuel prices. And everyone is wondering why German car manufacturers are downsizing... emission laws and fuel prices, they have no other options but downsizing VW tried to cheat and see what happened to them.

]The XP13 is a really safe car its just retested by EURO-NCAP and got 5 stars again.
It is really few models from 2011 that still can get 5 stars under 2017 conditions. https://www.euroncap.com/en/results/toyota/yaris/29484 A big car is no guarantee for its safe it is the construction with collision zones that makes it safe. Just se this from top gear. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLLanPwRgio And this one with an Yaris XP13 against older american estate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fn53MGa1v_o

I have an 07 Yaris hatchback in Canada since new in 2007 with 220000'ish KM on the odometer.
I have had the following issues / done the following: Headlight bulbs replaced cause they burnt out within 1 month of each other. These are a real pain without removing the headlight housings. Small hands required! Backup light burnt out Front left side axle seal seeps. Was replaced, but still seeps. Front brake rotors replaced about 2 years ago cause they got a bit warped. Replaced pads twice. Have not touched rear drums. Front left CV boot recently split open, I will replace whole axle and do the inner seal again while I'm at it. Engine squeals when starting, but goes away when I turn interior blower fan off, but it's not the blower that's squealing... I'll replace accessory belt but I have no idea what is causing the squealing. Replaced OEM battery after 10 years of being fine. Body is starting to get a lot of little pits and dents from rocks, and starting to rust in those little spots. But I live in the frozen North. Windshield has a large crack halfway across but I've actually been quite lucky with that. Rear hatchback lift hydraulics will not push the door open anymore or even hold it open if it's less than halfway open. I can lift it up allthe way and then it will hold it up. Need to replace them. Rear hatchback door latch is broken. It doesn't seem to unlock at all. This happened just within the past few weeks. I can hear it clicking in there when I use the keyfob but I am unable to unlatch the door by pushing in the button on the door as per normal. The button pushes in, but the door doesn't open. That button also gets frozen regularly during the winter leaving me unable to open the hatchback. I have had to remove the inner small panel so I can get at the mechanism with my finger to open the hatchback, which does work, and is currently the only way I can get the hatchback open. I will be ripping this interior panel off soon to get a look at that latch. I think it might be the actuator itself that is pooched, which if that's the case I may be screwed because that thing costs like $350 Canadian to replace. This is by far the most annoying thing I have had to deal with with this car. Shifter is getting a little sloppy, but I am on completely original clutch and transmission and I even learned to drive manual transmission with this car. Overall I am very happy with the reliability of this car. I keep having to convince myself not to buy a new car. I mostly want modern conveniences but there is nothing seriously wrong with the car AT ALL so it is very hard for me to justify a newer car purchase. |

Tighten the serpentine belt after reading about it in threads here. Too tight kills waterpumps. Lever in wrong spot damages an oil control valve.
