LED running lights - Tapping into Ignition Switched Power
Hi All,
I've got my hands on some led running lights and I am wondering about some wiring. If I have them on a switch, I want them to switch on and off with the car without me having to worry about turning the switch off. Are there any places under the hood where I can tap an ignition powered source? Thanks! |

The only ignition switched power sources under the hood are ones that are critical circuits (ECM power feed and fuel injector power feed), so you would want to run a wire through the firewall to feed them. The pink wire on the ignition switch connector is a good source of ignition switched power, but I would use that to feed a relay coil where the relay contacts then switch the power to the lights. If the LEDs are low power devices, then you would be OK feeding them from the pink wire, but I would still put a fuse inline with the feed to the lights.
