Cap ontop of strut???

I have used multiple tools to remove but it wont budge.Tried large flat head screw driver,chissel with small 2x2 underneath for leverage but they wont budge in the slightest.

What am I doing wrong.

I was thinking of cutting apart with dremel then put new ones on.

Its 11"00 am here and want to get the fronts done today but this is a major setback.

Would 5 hours be enough to do the 2 fronts if I dont run into any more major issues?

Don't know why yours is so stubborn as it is just a pop off cap. All I can think of is that you are just being a bit too gentle. Put screw driver under it and twist the blade, not pry.

I take it that since you are proceeding with the fronts, that you have your issues/questions about the rear resolved.

I was actually prying the whole big plastic piece.That is held on with the nut.

I cot the paper thin plastic cap off know.Didnt even see it there as it was so thin.


Know thats solved i cannot loosen top nut without allenkey spinning.

I would need a 12'' long allen key to get the leverage needed to loosen nut.

Time is running out so I may put everything back together and try on the weekend.


This is a lazy silly desighn.

My accord was a breeze.

I even put sleved bar onto allen key and have it wedget between some metal things and nut wont budge.

I would need to get my impact wrench into there while holding the allen key somehow.

Not sure why everyone says its an simple job?

Going to fiddle around for another hour then will have local mechanic do the job.The rears are done so I may be able to get it done for a couple hundred.Atleast i tried.

In my experience, hitting with the impact is powerful enough to loosen the nut without needing the allen key.

Its seized on there pretty good.

I gave it all I got so I am glad i tried for sure.

If life offered me more personal time i would probaly give it another go.

Its definitly a 2 day job and unfortunatly thats 2 days i never get.

I will get the pros to give it a go.

As wee stated a 1/2" impact with good torque should be enough to get it off. If you're using hand tools then you'll need to use an Allen key and a wrench.

If the impact didn't work and neither will the Allen key then you're best to take it to a shop and save yourself the time.
