Cleaning behind tail lights on 2014 hatchback/SE?

Anyone with experience removing the tail light assemblies on a hatchback? I unbolted them from inside the trunk but I can't get them to pop out. It looks like there is a clip that goes behind the bumper.

Do I need to remove bumper to get these things out? Rain is washing dirt behind them and it is build up around the lens.

I think this picture from ebay is of what I'm dealing with.

Shouldn't be an issue.. there's 2 10mm bolts inside the little vent looking plats inside the hatch

Once you undo those two bolts, use something soft and rigid to wedge into the gap between the light housing and body on the exterior of the car, and just sort of push from the inside, and pull from the outside (you look like you're hugging your cars tailight when doing this) and they pop right out

Tail Light Removal

Well, the driver side brake light blown, so need to replace the bulb 7443, the tail assembly came out only after some persuasion, found out it was due to rusted locating pin, so cleaned it and applied appropriate lub, hopefully won't attack the plastic part attached to the body.

When I worked on the right side assembly, it wouldn't budge, so I gave it a good yank, it came off, but oh-uh, the pin broke off! So the JB Weld to the rescue, not pretty but it's hidden from view.

So be careful when other members doing this operation, it may not come out easily for some, if the pin rusts or it wouldn't release smoothly.
