Going Down the Cliff

Hello po mga sir's. Ask lang ako ng question if you stay sa 2nd gear if palusong yung trail? As per my driving habit kasi with a company car before I go in neutral then alalay sa preno. Pero sa manuals ng mga sasakyan ang recomended nila is stay on 2nd gear para sa engine breaking. Ang sa akin lang is hindi ba masama sa engine yun lalo na kung mahaba-haba yung trail like yung way papuntang Jeddah from Riyadh sa Makkah High way?

@ d"A" depende sa steepness ng downhill drive mo at speed mo, as long as equal to or less than 3K ang rpm mo ( 4K rpm is still ok), safe pa un. ang drawback lang sa naka neutral when going downhill at alalay sa preno ay wala ka masyado control sa sasakyan. engine braking is advisable as per the manual and as per my experience as well. my yaris ( shadow) is going 60K+ still on original brake pads.. FTW!

same here, especially pag approaching na sa traffic signal, ramdam ko parang may laban pag nag aapply ako ng brakes...required na ba na magpalit ako ng brake pads or need lang konting adjustment.

Tol papaanong laban ng brakes you mean from left to right? or feeling mo advanced na ang preno ng unahan kesa sa rear....maaring adjust muna yan tol to synch the 4 braking system lalo na sa likod na minsan delayed (mataas na ba handbrake mo pagka hinatak mo, ako nasa 2-3 clicks pa rin mababa pa matigas na ikaw?)

Ilang kms na tinakbo mo?

Ako personally malakas ako sa preno as I don't do engine braking mas ok na akong maupudan ng brake lining kesa sa engine brake na I feel there is some stress given to the tranny and engine that overtime could cause some unnecessary wear and tear on those 2 large parts well that is JUST ME....my own personal feeling and opinion kaya preno na lang much cheaper to replace.

@charlie, nasa 61K na Kms ko..yung laban na napi feel ko are both from right side (front & rear) medyo parang matigas pag nag apply ako ng brakes and yes parang advance yung brake sa front right side.
sa handbrakes its almost 30-40 deg. upright inclination which i think is equivalent to 2-3 clicks at normal naman pag hinatak. kung adjustment lang its ok ero kung palitin na yung break pads kailangang mapondohan na
