For 195/55/16, a very practical wheel would be 16x7, with offset value of +42.

Agree with WeeYari.

If you're lowered on TRD's and don't want to adjust camber, then I would suggest 16x7, ET40-ET45 with 195mm rubber.

I run 205/45R16 on 16 x 7 ET42. Lowered 1.5" all around.

While we're on the subject. I have been reading the tire and wheel guide. I'm a bit confused myself. It's a lot of info and a lot of variables. I have a 2013 Yaris L hatchback(3 door) I would like to run 17×7.5 42offset. With 215×40×17. With coil overs and about 1.2 to 1.4 drop. What are your thoughts? Am I going to be cutting stuff to stop the rubbing? Or is this likely a safe setup?

I have run 215 series rubber on 17s and I can tell you from experience that you will not be happy with the performance of the vehicle. Sure, nothing will break it free in a corner, but it takes a lot of power to move that much rubber. If your 17x7.5 wheels are not uber light, then you will be toast.
