2012 SE 5 Speed grinding gears

Have 60k miles. Clutch is good, bled for the heck of it to see if it would help any. It didn't. Only grinds when shifting from 3rd-4th at 4k rpms and up. Feels sloppy and clicks under 4k when going in to gear. . Will not grind from a 5-4 downshift. I even changed from Mobil 1 to Redline and no difference. My last Yaris had 185k with original clutch, and never an issue. What gives? Anyone else had these types of issues in their low mileage Yaris?

You might barely squeak by the power train warranty guidelines so if so I'd just make toyota fix it.

id take it to toyota pronto to see if you can get it warrantied

otherwise, buy some amsoil or redline gear fluid (severe gear or mt90 respectively) to see if it helps.

Warranty. The syncros on 3rd to 4th are probably shot for whatever reason. Unless you drive real hard all the time, it failed prematurely.

Thank you all. I have redline in it currently, and it has whined a little in all gears. Bearings may have been some of the cause. It has the Toyota Certified Used 100k warranty so I should be good.

Yea, let us know what the problem is when you take it in! I'm curious to know what it is

Absolutely. Nothing worse than a "problem" thread with no resolution. I'll post again. Appointment tomorrow for diag at local dealer.

Alright. Dealership finally found out I have a Certified Used Warranty, and not a warranty purchased through finance. They called me today to authorize a "tear down" of the transmission. So if they don't find anything wrong, I'm on the hook for 10 hours of labor. The service advisor told me it was odd they were doing that.

Yaris grinding transmission warranty teardown synchros

Did "tear down" entity personally confirm symptom by test drive? If yes, how could there be "nothing wrong?"
