Is the Yaris 1.5 TS worth it?

Hello, I'm looking for buying a 2001 Yaris T-Sport (150.000 km) at 4000 euros.
Basically:
1) I want it to be reliable
2) I do a lot of miles and I would like to get over 33 mpg in the city

As a plus, it's kinda modified already, which means I won't have to spend that money myself.

Do you think it is a good choice? Or too expensive/not economical enough?

Sounds like a lot of money to me, but you are not in my market of expertise.

16 years old + 4000 euro = Yikes!

Yes, seems expensive, but like Wee stated, totally different market so you'll have to do your research into what cars go for.

As for the car itself, why is the seller getting rid of it? As a buyer you shouldn't have to pay more than market value for a modifed car, they are more a liability which is why mods never increase a cars value. So don't let the seller use that as leverage to ask for more.

Also, unless the mods were done very well, the car could be more maintenance then stock. You'll have to assess the mods that have been done to make that call yourself.

However if you want to mod your car down the road, then yes buying an already modified car can save you money, just be aware that you may be wrenching it more than you would like especially compared to a stock car. If you don't wrench yourself then you'll be paying a mechanic to do it and that can get expensive when you're dealing with a modified car that you or the mechanic did no do themselves

The mods I'm talking about are:
-induction
-downpipe
-disc brakes
while it also has a good sound system.
All that stuff matters to me, but of course I'm going to check the condition of any car before I buy it. But I've never bought such an old car before and I'd really like to make it to 250.000 seamlessly, given its good prior condition.

However, the most important thing for me is the fuel consumption. Can I get mid 30s mpg figures (or around 8L/100km) in a city with a lot of traffic? Cause if I can't, I'm gonna consider buying the D4D again, since I can't find a better petrol car.

*About the market, T-Sport seems to be a little rare around here, can't find for less than 3000 euros.
