Simota CB-314 Intake questions

Pulled out the stops to install today. :(
No pretty instructions inside the box(amongst all the popcorn bits)
Removed the stock goods, looked at the picture on the Simota website.
??--- The mushroom airfilter is mashed up against the plastic(near the drivers side headlight enclosure).
Is it supposed to be this tight? I snugged up(pushed that is) the rubber connects as much as possible.

The "support like" looking piece of metal.. Is this to be put under the intake and attached where the stock airbox was? if so do you need to get a bolt for it? the one that was there to hold the stock airbox is far to long for this to work.

One other concern: I logged some data for about 20 minutes with the stock airbox on, and then the Simota.
The intake temperature is almost 20-25 degrees higher.... should it be this high?
Thanks guys!!
TMW

take a picture of the problem. Might be easier to solve that way.

I don't know? Looks good to me. How squished is it? Is there a bracket holding it there or is it wedged in there?

Good Ole Wedgie... its snug.. enough that it changes the shape of the filter.

What about Intake Temp? Should it be that high... or.. Do you think it should be that high?
I like the office manager breathing warm.. but.. not sure the yaris likes that..

I was going to try that, but thought the angle should match that of the throttle body area. It is angled upwards to wards the hood. Soooo.. I installed with the same angle. Just didnt want the intake tube touching the alumimum of the throttle body intake area....
Probably using all the wrong terminology.. LOL

i have a sedan and it's a really tight fit as well. had it for over a year without any problem though. a metal bracket came with it but i wasnt really able to find where to bolt the bracket onto so i didnt bother.

filter itself is tight but it is still in its original shape (no pun intended) and not squashed or anything.

Besides the fit, I am concerned about the high intake temperatures with it installed compared to the stock airbox.
I may pickup the afe unit as it has the shrouding around it that seals up at the top of the hood. Could also put some insulative foil at the same place where it seals. Just in case the hood is hot, therefore increasing the intake temp.
Wallet hasn't closed in over a month.. haha
