other cars...

I want to see what other cars everybody else might drive. First car I ever had that I owned on my own was a 1994 Ford Probe GT I got last year, the 2.5L V6 and 5 speed manual. Originally paid $1500 CAD for it, put almost $8000 more into it, and blew a gasket shortly after. Being an all aluminum engine, I figured the heads and block were all warped or cracked or both, so I had to get it junked. Needed $2500 of brake work, too. I got it with 292,000kms and got it junked with 299,000kms. I am still paying off the loans I took out to fix her up. I still plan to get another Probe GT in a few years, but this time I will be sure to research the car more before I buy it. Anyway, one of my good friends shoots for Modified Mustang Magazine, so I got him to take out his cameras and equipment for a day of shooting. Turned out pretty good, I believe. And even though this car is long gone, I still have the bragging rights as having a 15.5 second car as my first.

Also throw in a few video links here, too.
First two are exhaust noise...1st is outside, 2nd is from inside.

This one is having a little fun in the parking lot. Had it sitting for a while with the blown gasket. Decided to have some 8000rpm fun before getting rid of her.

And now for pictures...

Nice! I love miata's, but even the older models are kinda pricey for me still. I was looking at a 93 miata before I got the probe, but the miata would have been close to $500 a month insurance, and the probe was $380 a month. That, and the added practicality of rear seats and a large trunk made me buy the Probe. When I used to work at the Toyota dealership, one of the guys bought an '06 mazdaspeed miata just before I left. All I can say is WOW. Amazing automobile. The acceleration in it was very surprising. That mechanic has a nice garage of cars...his wife works a great job so almost 100% of his cash goes towards cars. He also has a 2004 Subaru WRX STi that he taught me to drive stick in, a 2007 mustang cobra..I believe the GT500, and has a couple older firebirds and buicks.

yea...my friend has one of them. Just set the exposure time longer on his regular 5mp camera. The non-action shots were all taken on an 8mp digital SLR, excluding the last few shots...those I took myself.

Good looking Probe, enjoy the dependability of the Yaris! Too bad the Probes don't hold up {engines (both the 4 & 6)/auto trannies/outside mirrors (saw your screws!)/door handles (inside and out)}. Stripping usable parts off the middle daughters this week and scraping the rest (engine exploded), and the older daughter is hoping her's will last till she can afford something else (this is her 2nd Probe)...had nothing but troubles. The Yaris won't do that to ya!

Sorry to be a little off topic but the user's garage says it better.

Yea, it was very unreliable, but I still miss her. So fun to drive...I just wish we had the 5 speed in the yaris. Would make it so much more fun to drive.

I've been through more cars than I care to admit. I made a lot of poor decisions (meaning I was poor, and paid cash for most of my cars), and a lot of bad decisions, and never bought anything new until my Yaris. The lesson of Toyota reliability was finally taught to me by my wife (bless her).

Here's the list, in chronological order:

1979 Chevy Monza

1976 Datsun 260Z

1982 Datsun 280ZX

1987 Mazda 323 DX Wagon

1984 VW Rabbit

1989 Jeep Cherokee Laredo

1987 Toyota Celica GT

1990 Pontiac Fiero

1993 Geo Storm

1994 Mazda Navajo

1993 Isuzu Impulse

1999 Dodge Stratus

2007 Toyota Yaris LB

Here are my other rides. They weigh a little less than the Yaris and have just a bit more horsepower, but similar MPG.
