Just rented a 2010 Chevy Aveo hatch on vacation

Wow, talk about Yaris withdrawals.

The Aveo is a POS (sorry to the member who owns one).

It is a tin can. No road noise isolation, really bad handling, slow, and of course ugly. The center dash pressed against my knee as well as the flimsy pull out cup-holders. The speakers are crap as well. The brake feel is sudden.

I averaged only 27 mpg in the same driving conditions as I get 38+ in the Yaris. In a car that seemed to be half the size, made of tin foil, tiny, skinny tires, and I get the mileage of a mid-size car!?!? Hello? I rented a sub-compact to save on gas.

So after this experience, I now feel like I'm driving a Lexus. I can fully appreciate the money that Toyota invested in all the right places in the Yaris. The Yaris feels twice as solid, is very quite and sound insulated, handles great, is faster, far more efficient, and way better looking.

I don't think they need to, the way I see them all over in my area - they sell themselves! lol

What do Yaris commercials have to do with the Aveo?

Increase awareness which in turn should generate more sales :)

I believe the Yaris probably has a low profit margin (at least in the US) so it's not lucrative to spend much on advertising. They would rather sell the Tundra's and the Camry's... Remember that Tundra commercial in the desert, where the show off the braking power going down the ramp? That's where they make money, that's what they are going to show...

we have an '10 Aveo as a delivery vehicle at work. We just hit 15k miles and she already needed tie rod ends, tires and alignment

Thing is, GM really doesn't even advertise the Aveo.

Aside from 1st year launch ads, when do automakers ever advertise their sub-compacts? They rarely do. The profits are so small it leaves very little for ads.

You don't appreciate what you have until you lose it.
