Possible, you'll need to do it like the autoparts stores do it. Basically have the renter pay you for the used price. Once finished money is returned minus fees and shipping.

This way, if the renter "walks off" with it, they actually have already paid for it.

this would mean that you would have to learn how to drive conservative enough to save $30 per month in order for the investment to pay off...

300miles / 45mpgs x 3.50 dollars per gal. = 23.33
300miles / 40mpgs x 3.50 dollars per gal. = 26.25
300miles/ 35mpgs x 3.50 dollars per gal. = 30.00
300miles / 30mpgs x 3.50 dollars per gal. = 35.00

30mpgs - 35mpgs= 5.00 dollar difference

6 months time?... of course if you try hard enough at it for that 1 month....you won't need it after the 30 days. My scangauge helped me go from 45mpgs to 48mpgs average.

I don't even think of how to drive anymore, I just drive. If I "tried"...I could get closer to 50mpgs.

What the scangauge does is give immediate reinforcement in the way of numbers for a driver. Once someone gets used to how they should drive for mpgs, they don't really need it after that unless they want really outstanding numbers (requires you to religiously monitor the numbers).
